Prague Spring

The election of Alexander Dubček as premier of Czechoslovakia ushers in a period of liberalization, placing the country in opposition to Soviet policy. Soviet forces invade on August 20, crushing the “Prague Spring.” Dubček was forced to resign in April 1969.
